There’s is quite a lot of celebrate in February — love, President’s Day, Black history and the return of “Hamilton” to Fox Theatre. Take a look at what’s happening, then make your list of cool things to do in February so that you don’t miss even one thing.

‘Hamilton’ Returns to Fox Theatre

The mega-hit “Hamilton” returns to the Fox Theatre Jan. 30 through Feb. 25 as part of the Regions Bank Broadway Series. A revolutionary story of passion, unstoppable ambition and the dawn of a new nation, “Hamilton” is the epic saga that follows the life of Alexander Hamilton as he fights for honor, love and a legacy that not only would shape the course of a nation — but also become a legend on Broadway. With a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway tunes, “Hamilton” is an entertaining way to learn history.

Celebrate Black History Month

Atlanta is widely known as the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, and when you take Tom Houck’s Civil Rights Tour, you’ll get a glimpse into the rich history of Atlanta’s Black community going back decades. From Sweet Auburn to Atlanta Life Insurance Company, the engaging tour gives insight to Black history as only Atlanta can.

Painted Pickle

Pickleball is the rage. Enter the Painted Pickle, a high-end pickleball, gaming and entertainment venue, soon to open along the Atlanta BeltLine at Armour Yards in between Buckhead and Midtown. The 32,500-square-foot space houses eight indoor boutique pickleball courts and other interactive games as well as a full kitchen serving sushi, charcuterie, salads and share plates. Enjoy live music on the front and rear patios.

It’s a Love Story all Month Long

Valentine’s Day is upon us. To mark the occasion, Atlanta restaurants cook up special dinners in the name of L-O-V-E. The folks at Poncey-Highland restaurant Amore e Amore think the whole month of February should be dedicated to Valentine’s Day. With that in mind, Amore e Amore goes all out with over-the-top decorations on display throughout the month so that couples can celebrate Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14 or any other day of the month.

Auto Show Zooms into Atlanta

Explore the latest model cars at the Atlanta International Auto Show Feb. 29 — March 3 at the Georgia World Congress Center. In addition to the latest models, auto fans can participate in ride-and-drive events as well as marvel at legendary cars of years past.

24 Days of Global Cinema

The 24th annual Atlanta Jewish Film Festival runs from Feb. 13 through March 7, showing more than 63 films from 20 countries. The selection offers a mosaic of genres and themes that resonate with audiences from all walks of life and every age.  Among the films are “Remembering Gene Wilder,” “The Catskills” and “Where is Anne Frank.” The films will be shown at a variety of venues including the Plaza Theatre in Poncey-Highland.

Tee it Up

Five Iron Golf, an indoor golf and entertainment experience, tees off in Atlanta with the opening of its 23rd domestic location. The Midtown Atlanta venue features 13 custom-built TrackMan golf simulators as well as a full food and beverage menu in the 16,000-square-foot space. 

Five Iron’s golf simulators leverage tour-level technology and multiple high-speed cameras to capture every angle of the golf swing. By offering players of all skill levels the chance to tee off at Pebble Beach, St. Andrews and nearly 200 other world-renowned courses seven days a week, Five Iron Golf brings an exciting level of access to Atlanta golf enthusiasts.

Guests can enjoy a selection of shareables, pizzas, handhelds and sliders. A full bar is available as well, with signature cocktails.

Year of the Dragon

All around metro Atlanta there will be Lunar New Year Festivities. On Feb. 10, the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Culture Office hosts a celebration that will feature a Taiwanese night market, food, dragon and lion dances, cultural performances, calligraphy demonstrations plus art and culture exhibits.

Many restaurants will have special Lunar New Year celebrations. Tio Lucho’s, a Peruvian restaurant in Poncey-Highland, will host Chifa Night, featuring dumplings, dragon dancers and special Chinese dishes. JenChan’s will have a special brunch and dinner service at its Cabbagetown restaurant. Stone Mountain Park will celebrate the Year of the Dragon Feb. 10-11, 17-19 and 24-25 with tributes to the culture and traditions of Korea, China and Vietnam among other countries. There will be a special Lunar New Year drone and light show, a lighted parade and craft activities.

President’s Day

How about a visit the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum at the Carter Center to celebrate President’s Day and the presidency, life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter and the late first lady Rosalynn Carter? Among the highlights are a life-size replica of the Oval Office, a walk-through cabin-style exhibit on Camp David and artifacts depicting the Carter presidency and the amazing work the Carters did after leaving the White House.

Creepy Crawlers

Walk — don’t crawl — to Fernbank Museum of Natural History to see the exhibit, “Spiders — From Fear to Fascination.” Explore more than 250 real spider specimens including the infamously famous black widow. Using the latest in augmented reality technology to create a fully immersive experience, guests can walk through hundreds of scattering spiders along a glowing forest floor, bring an animated spider to life, compete in a mating dance-off with a jumping peacock spider and more in this one-of-a-kind experience.

Uncorked Atlanta

Enjoy more than 50 varieties of wine and craft beer tastings, music performances, DJs and wine-themed activities at the Uncorked Atlanta Wine Festival Feb. 10 at the Stave Room on Armour Drive. Among the brands represented are: Kate Arnold Wines, Monday Night Brewery, Ca’Momi, Fruit Smash hard seltzer and 101 North.

Feel the Beat (Latin Style)

It’s Latin Wednesdays at Tongue & Groove, an 8,500-square-foot Buckhead nightclub. Enjoy free salsa and bachata dance lessons, rotating DJs and an evening of tropical dance music featuring New York City- style salsa as well as Top 40, EDM and hip-hop.

Learn to Make Biscuits at Historic Market

Head over to Edgewood Avenue for the ultimate food experience at the Atlanta Municipal Market, the city’s oldest food market. Enjoy 11 tastings from five vendors and learn about Southern cooking and Georgia’s most famous foods including peaches, collards and pecans. End the tour with a cooking class where you’ll learn to make the perfect Southern biscuits.

Chefs Market

Pullman Yards is hosting a weekly open-air market that features independent, rotating vendors sharing and selling their specialty. These include dishes that celebrate diverse food cultures, artwork, craft goods and produce. Starting this month, Chefs Market will occur in the Railpark on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. The farmers market-meets-bustling bazaar will include a wide array of cultures and cuisines.

Happy Anniversary to SweetWater Brewing

SweetWater Brewing makes some of Atlanta’s best-known and loved craft beers. Join the fun as the brewery celebrates its 27th anniversary on Feb. 17 with music by Earth Gang, DJ Maddy O’Neal and Daniel Donato.
