Located in Cleveland, Ga., and situated on 650 acres in the North Georgia mountains, Babyland General Hospital houses those famous pudgy-faced dolls that gained popularity in the ‘80s.
5 Reasons to Visit Babyland General Hospital:
1. Admission is free.2. This is the only place in the world where you can witness the birth a hand-sculpted Cabbage Patch Kid (CPK).
A Licensed Patch Nurse (LPN) has the audience guess the gender of Mother Cabbage’s baby, and she shows an ultrasound so everyone can see the gender. The audience interacts with the LPN throughout the birthing process and even gets to help name the baby.3. Kids can choose from thousands of Cabbage Patch Kids throughout the hospital until they find the perfect addition to their family.
Adopting "parents" meet with a "doctor" or "nurse" to go over the Oath of Adoption, a solemn promise to care for a CBK, and they receive the official birth certificate for the new CPK. There are several rooms designated for the adoption process.4. Each CBK is unique, down to the doll's outfit, hairstyle, eye color, size and even nose.
5. Babyland was voted one of Travel Channel’s Top 10 Toylands
