When people think of Atlanta, they often conjure up visions of sprawling mansion-filled neighborhoods, mind-boggling shopping and world-class restaurants and businesses. Well, all of that is true, but Atlanta also is an amazing place for families. If you’re looking for a family-friendly hotel in either Buckhead or Midtown, try these:

  • Courtyard by Marriott is close to the MARTA Buckhead train station and offers a free shuttle within a three-mile radius. The hotel offers an indoor pool, among its other amenities.

  • Embassy Suites is famous for its two-bedroom suites and complimentary made-to-order breakfasts and evening receptions, and Atlanta has two — Buckhead and Centennial Olympic Park. The hotel has indoor and outdoor pools, which makes it a 365-day perfect hotel for kids.

  • Four Seasons makes every family welcome with childproofed rooms, child-sized bathrobes, bedtime cookies and hotel activities for children.

  • Hampton Inn Atlanta-Buckhead offers a daily hot breakfast and free Wi-Fi. Located two blocks from Peachtree Street, the hotel also has an outdoor pool and a fitness center.

  • Homewood Suites Buckhead is newly renovated and features 92 one- or two-bedroom suites with separate living rooms and fully equipped kitchens. The hotel offers a full hot breakfast and an evening social Monday through Thursday. There is a complimentary grocery shopping service, a 24-hour convenience store and an outdoor pool. The Homewood Suites in Midtown offers the same family-friendly conveniences and is one block from the Midtown MARTA station.

  • Loews in Midtown prides itself on being family friendly with night lights for easy sleeping, child-proofing kits for families with kids younger than 4, and  “Loews Loves Kids” activity books for children younger than 10. Another amenity is the “Kids' Closet” lending library stocked with toys, books, board games, electronics, strollers, car seats and kid-friendly DVD players.

  • Mandarin Oriental Atlanta may be a five-star hotel but it treats the little ones like stars. The hotel provides a host of complimentary children’s amenities including cribs, bathtubs, strollers, high chairs and monitors. There are specially prepared dishes for the kids, and, upon arrival, all children receive a Little Fan’s Passport with a fun scavenger hunt map inside. Children are encouraged to explore the hotel and chat with members of the staff to complete the quiz. At the end, they receive a stamped Mandarin Oriental fan that can be redeemed in The Café for a special treat or a toy.

  • Quality Suites Buckhead Village is a home-away-from-home with kitchenettes and options of one or two bedrooms. A free hot breakfast makes it perfect for families.
