Where to Eat in Atlanta During Labor Day Weekend

So many restaurants and Labor Day specials in Atlanta, so much fabulous food: Here's a cheat sheet.

Whether you are celebrating Labor Day, geeking out for Dragon Con or simply looking for a great meal, Atlanta has a number of top-notch restaurants and Labor Day deals for everyone where the only decisions are what neighborhood and what do you want to order.


  • Hyatt Regency Atlanta
    Head downtown to the Hyatt Regency Atlanta and make a pit stop at Twenty-Two Storys for a Voodoo Bucket at the hotel’s lobby gastropub. Available only during Dragon Con, the $13 cocktail bucket concoction is made with select rums, fresh fruit juice and other special ingredients. To satisfy those big weekend cravings, dig into Twenty-Two Storys’ special “sub-conscious burger” featuring Benton’s bacon, herb fries, cheddar cheese, red cabbage and mayo slaw, served with sweet potato tots and beer cheese sauce.

  • Pittypat’s Porch
    Pittypat’s Porch is sending summer off as any true Southerner would by offering a Georgia peach mojito throughout Labor Day weekend. Try the black-eyed pea cakes, fried green tomatoes, buttermilk biscuits and the incredible Pittypat’s fried chicken. 

  • Smokebelly BBQ
    Over at Smokebelly BBQ  it’s the start of football season with “Buds, Burgers & Bellies” on Sept. 5. The event will include food and drink specials, live entertainment, games, giveaways and the Auburn-Louisville game on more than a dozen big-screen TVs.  

  • Big Kahuna
    Big Kahuna serves up the best Cali-Mex Atlanta has to offer. During Labor Day weekend, Big Kahuna will expand its hours until late into the evening and offers special cocktails, 10 brews on draft, frozen drinks, margaritas and their full menu along with giveaways, custom t-shirts and more. Cult favorite, the Hip Hop Trooper, will make appearances throughout the weekend.  Validated parking for patrons. 
  • Twin Smokers
    Enjoy down home barbecue, 36 craft beers and 17 TVs at one of Atlanta’s best barbecue restaurants. Its burnt ends chili is famous as is its dinosaur beef rib. 


  • 10th & Piedmont
    Check out the people watching as well as the fantastic new menu thanks to newly named executive chef Michelle Matlock. The daughter of a fisherman, this Louisiana native is bringing her gumbo and other exciting new dishes to this Midtown favorite.

  • Saltwood Charcuterie & Bar
    Located inside Loews Hotel, this restaurant wants you to close out the summer with a frozen cocktail on a stick. Choose from either a pineapple margarita or cucumber melon mojito. 


  • Shake Shack
    In honor of Labor Day weekend, the Buckhead Shake Shack will serve up its elusive “Shack Corn Dog,” featuring a Vienna all-beef hot dog dipped in Shack-made corn batter, cooked golden brown and served with Rick’s Picks sweet corn relish and “Peach Pie Oh My Concrete,” a blend of vanilla frozen custard blended and H&F peach pie.

  • Red Pepper Taqueria
    Red Pepper Taqueria will feature three Mexican Break shots, $3 Tecate beer, $3 select craft beers and $6 RPT margaritas in addition to $10 chef’s choice fajita skillets. A dozen oysters will be available for $7 between 4 and 6 p.m.

Around Town

  • The Iberian Pig
    Planning to stroll around the Decatur Book Festival this Labor Day weekend? On Saturday, Sept. 5, take a detour to Decatur Square for lunch at The Iberian Pig. The modern Spanish restaurant, which is typically open only for dinner, will open its doors during lunch hours in honor of the occasion. Before and after piling up on books, stop by and dig into a platter of tapas, Spanish cheese and charcuterie.

  • Oak Steakhouse and Colletta
    Celebrate Labor Day weekend at Oak Steakhouse and Colletta with a Low Country boil and pig roast. From 4 to 9 p.m., enjoy specials from chefs Mike Perez and Eric Zizka along with live entertainment, $5 beer and wine and a la carte sweet treats. The event will be held in Palmer Plaza, the green space between Oak and Colletta. Free valet parking available.

  • Bantam + Biddy
    Renowned chef Shaun Doty is famous for Southern-inspired, farm-to-plate entrées and sides that are worth celebrating every weekend. Sister restaurant, Chick-a-Biddy at Atlantic Station is another great place to celebrate the weekend.
