National Guacamole Day is Sept. 16th. Who doesn't love this delicious avocado treat? The terrific thing about guacamole, besides the fact that it is a healthy snack, is that it can be prepared so many different ways it never gets boring. In that spirit, here are six of the top spots in Atlanta to enjoy guacamole.

  • Alma Cocina
    Alma Cocina is a downtown hot spot. Here, you won't just have one type of guacamole but a trio of different types. Make sure to save room for some of the other fantastic dishes here. One example is the ceviche. Note that this is a more upscale option than most Mexican restaurants and prices will be in line.

  • El Myr
    Located in the Little Five Points neighborhood, expect to find a diverse group of diners here. Come hungry, as the burritos  are huge. Equal parts dive bar and Mexican restaurant, El Myr satisfies your craving far into the evening as it is open late every night except Sunday. Tip: They have many vegetarian filling options for their burritos.

  • El Taco
    Tucked away in the Virginia-Highland, this is a fun family taqueria. Stay long enough and you could win a prize from the spinning wheel. The guacamole is especially tasty when paired with lime-salted chips.

  • No Mas
    If you are looking for a place to sip on an excellently prepared margarita and have some light snacks or a full dinner before or after a downtown event, look no further than No Mas Cantina. This huge restaurant has a lovely interior and also a relaxing patio. It is a perfect option for a large group and only a short distance from downtown attractions.

  • Rosa Mexicano
    Ordering guacamole at Rosa is an event. Servers prepare it right at your table. The presentation is beautiful in an authentic Mexican bowl called a Molcajete. Rosa changes things up once in a while with seasonal types of guacamole made with specialty ingredients such as pomegranate and pumpkin seeds.

  • Zocalo
    After a day of playing at Piedmont Park, the patio at Midtown's Zocalo is the perfect spot to enjoy a frosty beverage. And the guacamole, prepared table side, is a delicious way to kick off your meal.
