Love is always in the air in Atlanta but no more so than at Bridals by Lori. Lori Allen has been offering brides a mix of warm Southern hospitality, tough love and beautiful wedding gowns for almost 30 years. With the TLC show, “Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta,” excited brides-to-be and their entourages come from around the world to get the special treatment that Lori and her associates provide.
Bridals by Lori may be the largest full-service bridal salon in the nation with 25,000 square feet of space offering bridal gowns, bridesmaids and mother-of-the-bride dresses as well as tuxedo rentals and custom-made Italian suits to fit any size and budget. Lori is free with her opinions on everything — from keeping grooms out of the bridal department to what she loves about Atlanta and where she advises her customers to go in the city after they have purchased the bridal gown of their dreams.
“Atlanta is a mecca for the most energetic and vibrant places in entertainment and culture. Home to the country’s most recognizable brands, Atlanta offers a range of opportunities to experience a city with the perfect mix of sophistication, tradition and modernism,” she says. “As a resident, I have had the pleasure to indulge in the best that Atlanta offers. Here’s a little tour of some of my favorite things to do around the city."
Seasons 52 – I love this place because not only is the food great, but the calories are listed on the menu with most entrees ranging under 600 calories -- and the pecan dessert cup is fabulous! Buckhead Diner and Mary Mac’s Tea Room are great for good old Southern food with a modern flair. Who doesn’t love a frosted orange at The Varsity to top it off?
Jimmy Choo and Armani are my favorites at Phipps Plaza. I love to shop the sale rack at Armani, and a girl can never have too many shoes. Saks Off 5th and Nordstrom Rack are also great for designer bargains.
I love to check out Scott Antique Market on the second weekend of every month. A bit of advice: Go on Thursdays when the trucks are unloading. Miami Circle has outstanding lamps, art and antiques. Also, I love some of the accessories and décor at Home Goods.
Chelsea Floral Design is great for floral arrangements. Chelsea is a former bride at Bridals by Lori, and I am always thrilled with their arrangements (and Lord knows I am picky!).
Fragile on Roswell Road offers the best options on china and Annieglass. You won’t be disappointed.
I highly recommend Thompson’s Frame Gallery in Alpharetta for my brides looking to frame their portraits. They are fast, reasonable and have the best selection of frames in town.
I am a big fan of concerts so I love going to Chastain Park or the Fox Theatre for live entertainment.
As a true Southern belle, nature has never been my forte. However, I can find a happy medium at Piedmont Park. I love the green acres and blooming flowers, while my little Cooper is big fan of the dog park. Indeed a great place to enjoy the beautiful weather.
