It’s a constant struggle for travelers, especially those convention attendees whose business depends on being on the convention floor, meeting others, selling their products and making deals. Time is of the essence. Of course, you have to eat but you may not want to do the two-martini lunch (as if anyone does that anymore). If you are a conventioneer or visitor doing business near or at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), you won’t have to worry. Not only are there nearby places to eat, there are also plenty of quick lunch options:

  • Across the street from the GWCC is CNN Center, and it offers a variety of fast food and quick food restaurants, including Moe’s Southwest Grill, Subway, Roman Delight Pizza & Pasta, Taco Bell, Great Wraps, Fresh to Order, China Breeze, Arby’s, BurgerFi, Chick-fil-A and TJ’s Sandwiches. Another great local restaurant located there is Taco Mac, famous for its wings and burgers. The wings may take a while but the restaurant has a number of offerings for the person on the go, and another plus is that the staff is used to handling large crowds and rushes.

  • Across the street from CNN Center is the Hudson Grille that serves up burgers, steaks, fresh seafood, wings, and local and craft beer. If time isn’t on your side, order the special lunch menu called the “Fast Pitch,” which is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests can choose from three items for the low price of $10 and be in and out in a jiffy. The meal includes a choice of beverage, a start such as a Caesar salad or cup of soup, and then a choice of entrees such as chicken jambalaya, vegetable stir-fry, lemon Greek chicken or pulled barbecue chicken sandwich.

  • Located on Marietta Street is long-time favorite Kwan’s Deli and Korean Kitchen. The restaurant, which also caters downtown events, offers tasty, affordable and great-tasting food. If you want a deli sandwich, no problem. Order from a variety of classic deli offerings served with a pasta salad or chips. However, if you are hankering for quick Korean food, try the Galbi (short ribs marinated in a traditional Korean barbecue sauce), the Bulgogi (slice beef marinated) or the Kwan’s Katsu, a panko-breaded chicken breast.

  • Another option is Flats, which makes handcrafted flatbreads, such as Thai chicken, buffalo chicken, Cowboy Junkie (barbecue steak) or Casablanca (chicken with white sauce). The restaurant also offers super salads, breakfast flatbreads and blended fresh juices, including a red juice that features beets, red apples, carrots, pineapple, lime and ginger.

  • Just Around the Corner is pretty true to its name. Located on Spring Street, a couple of blocks from the GWCC, Just Around the Corner offers popular and quick dishes such as a foot-long chili dog, Denver omelet, taco salad and burger.

  • A quick walk up Marietta Street is Twin Smokers BBQ, where you can get the restaurant's famous brisket or smoked chicken wings along with incredible sides like coleslaw and banana pudding.
