In Atlanta, every time you turn around it seems a new shopping or dining destination has popped up. So, if you’ve got family or friends in town, why take them to the same old places? Use this as an excuse to explore neighborhoods you’ve haven’t visited or to take a tour. Here are our top suggestions of where to take your out-of-town guests.

  • Atlanta BeltLine – This paved path is perfect for seeing different neighborhoods, art and more while getting your exercise. You and your family can fuel up at one of the many restaurants along the BeltLine or check out Krog Street Market with its array of food stalls.

  • Atlanta Movie Tours – This is the perfect thing for movie buffs. You’ll spend a fun couple hours visiting sites from famous Atlanta-made movies or spots where TV shows have been filmed. There is a Walking Dead Tour plus a Gone With the Wind Tour. After the tour stay and dine at one of the Castleberry Hill restaurants like Bottle Rocket for Smoke Ring

  • Decatur – Has it been a while since you visited the Decatur neighborhood? Did you know Decatur is highly rated for its restaurants? We recommend starting with brunch at No. 246. Walk around the Decatur Square and pop in the Brick Store Pub for a pint. If you really like beer, head on over to Three Taverns for a brewery tour. Have dinner at one of the acclaimed restaurants like The Iberian Pig or Chai Pani. Finally pop into Leon’s Full Service or Kimball House for after-dinner drinks.

  • Fox Theatre – If you’ve been in Atlanta for any length of time and have yet to tour the Fox Theatre, you’re a doing yourself a disservice. Remedy that pronto. You’ll get to go behind the scenes and see where performers hang before and after their gigs. Snap a selfie on the Fox stage, too.

  • History buffs will love taking a food tour. Guides are full of information on the history of the neighborhoods they visit. We recommend Atlanta Food Walks and Peachtree Food Tours. Both will leave you full of historical knowledge and some of Atlanta’s best eats.

  • If gaming is your thing, a visit to Top Golf or The Painted Pin is in order. The uber cool atmosphere of The Painted Pin is perfect for groups, and it even allows kids during the day. Plus, the food is top-notch. Top Golf (locations on the north side and in Midtown) is fun for big groups as well with a feel-good atmosphere that both non-golfers and avid golfers can enjoy. Tip: Visit during morning hours (Top Golf does a mean brunch.) for fewer crowds.
