Life is hectic. Who sits down to dinner at 6 or even 7 p.m. anymore? We're all scrambling to get stuff done. But who wants to hit the drive-through or heat up a frozen _______ (pizza, burrito, you fill in the blank)? Thank goodness there are a handful of Atlanta restaurants open late night to satisfy our foodie cravings.

  1. Cooks & Soldiers -- In true Basque style, Cooks & Soldiers keeps the party going on past dinner on weekends for the Westside. The bar is open until 2 a.m., offering craft cocktails and fresh pintxos tradicionales -- Basque tapas served atop toasted bread, including favorites such as pan con tomato topped with Iberico ham.

  2. Diesel Filling Station -- Virginia Highland bar crawlers can enjoy some late-night noshing with their beverages at Diesel. Choices include the full menu of burgers and bites such as corn dog nuggets and wings. Our favorite? The stuffed pretzel with jalapeno and cheese with a ranch dipping sauce.

  3. GRAIN -- Looking for a late night spot in the heart of Midtown? Look no further than GRAIN. To start, they've curated a nice selection of wines and beer, but you really ought to try one of the house cocktails such as the RED DRAGON with pisco, lime, ruby port, tarragon. Besides a selection of oysters, cheese and charcuterie (Mortadella Mousse!), interesting items from the "Savouries" section include a Cheddarwurst corn dog, arugula pesto ravioli and burrata with roasted strawberries and white asparagus.

  4. Holeman and Finch - This tiny, hidden spot in Buckhead sure has it going on. Known for its terrific cocktails, they also have a terrific menu, including a burger, made famous by only being served late nights after 10 pm.

  5. Metro Cafe - After a night of partying downtown, this is the place to go when looking for midnight snack. Open 24 hours, get any number of breakfast dishes or fried goodies you please. There's even Karaoke, should the mood strike.

  6. Octopus Bar-- You won't be bored here as the menu changes frequently. Expect to find a variety of small plates with items ranging from braised rabbit legs to sea urchin risotto. Located in East Atlanta, the restaurant is open from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Monday through Saturday.

  7. Red Martini -- This upscale late night lounge, located in Buckhead, is a newcomer to the club scene. Dimly lit with beautiful chandeliers, the red curtains and red velvet chairs are offset by the sleek black tables and stools. Red Martini opens at 9 and serves food until about 30 minutes before closing at 3 a.m. on weekends. There are signature cocktails such as the red rose and lychee martini you won't want to miss. Extras: The upscale lounge is offering $6 signature maki rolls and Roca Patron martinis from 8 to 11 p.m. every Thursday night.

  8. Sweet Auburn Barbecue-- Look for a full menu for an extra two hours every weekend. Visit Friday and Saturday nights until midnight, and cure late-night hunger with smoked wu-tang wings, pimento cheese wontons, brisket poutine and much more.
