Free and Cheap Things to Do in Atlanta with Kids Labor Day Weekend

Here are some ideas for family friendly fun that won't cost much (or anything at all).

Labor Day Weekend marks the end of summer for most people, and as a three-day weekend it’s a great opportunity for a last hurrah before settling into school, work and the holidays. Here are some free and cheap things to do with kids for Labor Day weekend in Atlanta.


  • College Football Hall of Fame
    The College Football Hall of Fame is offering free admission during the month of August. Be sure to check the calendar prior to your visit for private parties. In addition, on Aug. 31 (and every Saturday game day), check out the Game Day tailgate party where you can watch the games in a family friendly environment along with games, trivia and DJ music.

  • Dragon Con Parade
    It's an annual favorite for fans of anime, cosplay, comics, sci-fi and more. Don your favorite costume and join the fun as a cast of wildly dressed characters marches down Peachtree Street starting at 10 a.m.

  • AJC Decatur Book Festival
    Book lovers of all ages will want to drop into the Decatur Book Festival for author signings, readings, workshops, live entertainment, panel discussions, parades and so much more. 

  • Fridays-N-Duluth presents Block Party on Main
    Labor Day Weekend will wrap up Fridays-N-Duluth Block Parties for the year. Check out food trucks, games, music and lots of fun.

  • Atlanta Natural Life Festival
    Celebrate all things natural at the Natural Life Festival in Historic Fourth Ward Park. Enjoy more than 50 vendors, vegan food trucks, music, kid zone and more.


  • TinyCON
    It's Like ComicCon but for kids. If your little ones are into comics, video games, superheros and gaming, this “con” at Children’s Museum of Atlanta is designed just for them.Expect fun kid safe activities and games. And, of course, costumes are encouraged.

  • Jammin Fam Fest
    It's an all day family fun festival to celebrate the working families of our country with music, dancing, food, booths and more.

  • Stone Mountain Labor Day Weekend
    Enjoy a fun packed day of adventure followed by an epic extended laser lights and fireworks spectacular at Stone Mountain Park. Save more than 40% on admission to exciting attractions by purchasing tickets in advance.
