Festivals create a whole lotta fun in May.

May brings some of Atlanta's most favorite festivals to venues all across town.

  • Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, May 1 - 8
    Be prepared to laugh your socks off as 72 up-and-coming comedians perform for audiences, agents, managers and bookers.

  • Shaky Beats Music Festival, May 5 - 7
    Enjoy the beats at Centennial Olympic Park where more than 40 artists such as Griz, Kaskade, Modern Measure and the Chainsmokers will perform. Also enjoy a food court and art market. For 18 and older.

  • Food That Rocks, May 6
    The second annual Food That Rocks will highlight 25 of Sandy Springs’ best restaurants, including the soon-to-open Kaiser’s Chophouse, a Kevin Rathbun production. The event benefits three charities Second Helpings, Ian’s Friends Foundation and the Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance.

  • Chastain Park Arts Festival, May 6 and 7
    Enjoy the sixth annual Chastain Park Arts Festival that features more than 180 artists and crafters as well as local food and beverage concessions and a children’s area.

  • 12th Annual May Day Festival, May 7
    Enjoy nature. Shop among regional artisans, encounter strolling performers and street artists, and watch the traditional maypole dance.

  • Georgia Renaissance Festival, through June 4
    Go back in history and experience the colorful Renaissance period with food, rides, artisan markets and games.

  • Atlanta Improv Festival, May 11 - 13
    It’s a time to laugh as those experts in the art of improv come to Atlanta to test their skills and bring on the smiles.

    Who doesn’t love a BBQ competition? When you aren't munching, enjoy music, a play zone for the kids and a street market.

  • Shaky Knees Music Fest, May 12 - 14
    With more than 60 bands on the schedule, expect lots of music at the annual Shaky Knees Music Fest.

    The Sweet Auburn Springfest aims to restore Auburn Avenue as the “greatest street on the planet” with family fun, food, art, shopping and music.

  • Kirkwood Spring Fling & Tour of Homes Festival, May 16
    Enjoy the family-friendly fun of the annual Kirkwood Spring Fling with an artists market, live music, BBQ competition and food from local vendors.

  • Malcolm X FestivalMay 20 and 21
    The festival celebrates the life of Malcolm X through cultural expressions such as music and performances.

  • East Atlanta Craft Beer Festival, May 20
    The 13th annual East Atlanta Craft Beer Festival features more than 200 craft beers as well as music and other festivities. Among the breweries participating are Abita, Mother Earth, Orphus and New Holland. Proceeds benefit the neighborhood.

  • Fire in the Fourth Festival, May 20
    Commemorating the Atlanta fire of 1917 (It destroyed much of the Fourth Ward.), this festivals brings fire sculptures and a whole lot more.

  • Slingin' Wings Festival, May 20
    Spicy wings from Atlanta restaurants plus frosty brews make this festival mighty tasty. 

  • Atlanta Game Fest 29, May 25 - 29
    Board game enthusiasts, rejoice. This festival is for you.

  • Decatur Arts Festival, May 26 - 28
    The Decatur Arts Festival features something for everyone and includes an artists' market, kids arts festival, performers and literary exhibits.

  • Atlanta Caribbean Carnival, May 27
    The sights and sounds of the Caribbean come alive with bands, parades, food, music and lots of dancing.

  • Atlanta Jazz Festival, May 26 - 28
    One of the largest free jazz festivals in the country, the Atlanta Jazz Fest features more than 100 of the country’s best jazz performers. Other events include a neighborhood jazz series, youth jazz competitions and a kids zone.
