Both timeless and timely, is the classic musical about finding a safe and peaceful compromise between keeping traditions and customs alive, especially the religious kind, and following your heart and instincts even if it means foregoing some, if not all, of the religious practices you have been brought up with. John Preece plays the lead role of Jewish father Tevye, whose troubles with the new Czarist rule in Russia and his daughters’ engagements and relationships to non-Jewish men cause him to ponder if he should simply go with the flow or stand his ground in faithfully and strictly imposing Jewish practices in his home but at the risk of severing close familial ties.
