Atlanta Film Festival
The annual Atlanta Film Festival showcases independent films from around the globe. Essential viewing for independent film buffs, movie fans and filmmakers, the Atlanta, Georgia Film Festival screens more than 150 films over a 10-day period. Cinematic entries in the Atlanta Film Festival span a variety of film genres, among them documentaries, narratives, foreign films, experimental film, animation and local productions. The Atlanta, Georgia Film Festival is also an Academy Award qualifier for narrative short films.
Also on the Atlanta Film Festival agenda are awards ceremonies, opening- and closing-night galas, and panel discussions. Among the participants in the Atlanta, Georgia Film Festival is an international array of filmmakers and movie industry representatives. Past honorees of the IMAGE Film Award Gala, held immediately prior to the Atlanta, Georgia Film Festival, include Cicely Tyson, Spike Lee, Burt Reynolds, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee.
The highly-respected Atlanta Film Festival was founded in 1977. It is the brainchild of IMAGE Film &Video Center, a nonprofit media arts organization based in Atlanta. The Atlanta, Georgia Film Festival is presented by Turner Broadcasting.
