Fernbank Museum of Natural History
The Atlanta Fernbank Museum of Natural History is a journey into another time. Each room of the Atlanta Fernbank Museum is filled with cultural treasures. See the "Giants of the Mesozoic," the largest dinosaurs in the world. Then travel from the Appalachian Mountains to Okefenokee Swamp to coastal barrier islands in "A Walk through Time in Georgia," another of the permanent exhibitions at the Atlanta Fernbank Museum.
Highlights of the Atlanta Fernbank Museum of Natural History also include a 900-gallon saltwater aquarium, children's discovery rooms, a rose garden, and a dining room that offers a view of a 65-acre hardwood forest. Even the floors at Atlanta Fernbank Museum are designed to be educational. They're made of 40,000 limestone tiles featuring fossils dating back to the Jurassic period.
In March 2011, Atlanta Fernbank Museum of Natural History opened NatureQuest - the cutting-edge, innovative children's wing featuring interaction with live animal habitats and exploration of ecosystems found throughout the state and in their own backyard.
The Atlanta Fernbank Museum of Natural History is also home to the IMAX® Theatre.
