A brand-new children's exhibition will open in Spring 2011 with more than 100 interactive opportunities to explore. Fernbank also features Martinis & IMAX on Friday nights (Jan-Nov) with live music, cocktails, dinner and IMAX films. The special exhibition "Mythic Creatures," on view February 19 - August 14, 2011*, reveals how living and prehistoric animals inspire fantastic beings ”some familiar, others unusual”and how cultures throughout time have created dragons, unicorns, mermaids and more to explain the natural world, express thoughts and share beliefs. "Darwin," on view September 2011 - January 2012*, explore the extraordinary life and discoveries of Charles Darwin. *Dates are subject to change.
