BRUNSWICK AND THE GOLDEN ISLES OF GEORGIA

IT'S A NATURAL ATTRACTION

Many areas on the mainland and the barrier islands are virtually undeveloped, and welcome discovery via guided tours on foot, by bike, kayak, pontoon boat, trolley or car. Whether from land or on the water, watching native creatures in their natural habitat and enjoying the vast expanse of our local marshes are other popular ways to experience Brunswick & The Golden Isles' abundant natural beauty.

DAY ONE
Afternoon
- Arrive in Brunswick and the Golden Isles of Georgia. Take a Driving Tour of the area for a great overview of Brunswick, St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. Driving tour brochures are available at local Visitor Centers and in our area Visitors Guide.

Evening - After dinner, take a dolphin tour or sunset cruise. Or learn about the legends and tales that have been handed down through generations, during an evening ghost tour on St. Simons Island. For a romantic evening, consider a carriage ride through the St. Simons Island Village or the National Historic Landmark District on Jekyll Island.

DAY TWO
Morning - Begin your day with a walk on the beach, or explore miles of level bike trails on St. Simons Island or Jekyll Island. After your ride, sign up for a nature walk at one of our local nature centers, or take a self-guided tour of the Earth Day Nature Trail in Brunswick.

Afternoon - After a picnic lunch at one of our waterfront parks, it's time for a kayak tour of our local lakes and rivers. Outfitters in Brunswick and on St. Simons Island specialize in organizing informative tours for paddlers of any experience level. For landlubbers, a horseback ride is a pleasant way to explore local beaches, marshes and maritime forest.

Evening - During the summer months learn about Georgia's oldest residents during an evening turtle walk tour on Jekyll Island. After a brief introduction at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, you'll take a walk along the beach with a trained guide. Any time of year, consider visiting one of the public piers on St. Simons Island or Jekyll Island, and relax as you enjoy a beautiful sunset over the Marshes of Glynn.

DAY THREE
After breakfast, if you've made reservations ahead of time, head out for a day trip to Little St. Simons Island, a privately owned 10,000-acre island that is accessible only by boat. A staff naturalist will introduce you to this secluded island, its creatures and plant life.

Following a delicious lunch, you'll have free time to walk the island's unspoiled beaches, collect shells or just sit and relax.

During the afternoon, take a cruise aboard the Lady Jane, a 60-foot steel hulled shrimp trawler. During a fascinating two-hour cruise you'll see first-hand how Georgia shrimp are harvested, learn about creatures of the deep, and sample fresh shrimp prepared on board by Lady Jane's crew.

Evening - Spend a quiet evening walking along the beach or find a comfortable seat at one of our waterfront parks. If this is your last night in Brunswick and the Golden Isles, we hope you had a wonderful time and we encourage you to plan now for your return trip.
