Metro Atlanta is jam-packed of activities and attractions to keep you busy when you're not watching the
games. From shopping to sightseeing to a variety of other sporting events, everyday is an opening
day and Atlanta has something to fit everyone's tastes.
Shopping
From shopping malls to neighborhood boutiques and more, Atlanta is a shopper's paradise. The most
concentrated collection of upscale stores in the United States can be found at Lenox Square
and Phipps Plaza, including Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Tiffany & Co., Bloomingdale's,
Neiman Marcus, Cartier, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.
Our newest shopping destination, Atlantic Station, is a hip, urban
development with retailers in an outdoor district. It also has a Regal Cinema and IKEA. If you have time
between shopping and catching a movie, try one of the 15 different dining options like Rosa Mexicano, Fox
Sports Grill and Strip Steaks and Sushi.
Little Five Points and
Virginia-Highland are two diverse
neighborhoods located on the edge of midtown and downtown, full of art galleries, eclectic boutiques and
specialty eateries. An area of coffeehouses and nightlife options, these two neighborhoods feature unique
gifts, clothing and antiques.
Sightseeing
Only in Atlanta can you taste the world through a soft drink, gaze at the world's largest fish, and then
walk in the footsteps of historic figures, like Martin Luther King, Jr., Margaret Mitchell and Jimmy Carter.

Downtown Attractions
The world's largest aquarium, The Georgia Aquarium,
is home to three of the world's
largest fish: whale sharks named for The Honeymooners: Norton, Alice and Trixie. With more than
100,000 fresh and salt water fish and mammals, it's easy to spend hours at the Aquarium.
The Aquarium is extending its hours on March 30 and April 1 to 8 a.m. - 11 p.m.
Inside CNN Atlanta includes a 50-minute
guided walking tour as you get a look inside
the world leader in television news.
At the World of Coca-Cola, hear the story
of Coca-Cola through exhibits, memorabilia,
classic radio and TV, then visit the favorite "Taste of the World" exhibit, where you can sample Coca-Cola
products from around the world. After the tour, visit the gift shop to find everything Coca-Cola -- from
T-shirts to collectibles.
On the edge of the park is Imagine It! Children's Museum of Atlanta is filled with
interactive and educational exhibits for children age 8 and under.
See giant pandas and the new baby panda, gorillas, orangutans, tigers, lions, giraffes, elephants
and more in their natural habitats at Zoo Atlanta.
Experience the life of the famous civil rights leader and native Atlantan, Martin Luther King, Jr. You
can start at his birth home, then walk to Ebenezer Baptist Church
where he served as pastor, and complete the tour at the
King Center, which houses Dr. and Mrs. King's graves,
along with a museum and visitor center.
President Jimmy Carter's life and the office of the presidency are portrayed at the Jimmy Carter Library
and Museum through a replica of the Oval Office, memorabilia and his
Nobel Prize on display.
Adjacent to the World of Coke, visit historic Underground Atlanta.
Midtown Attractions
The High Museum of Art has doubled in size with its
recent expansion and now includes three
new gallery buildings centered on a public piazza and Table 1280 restaurant. You also can see exhibits
on loan from the Louvre at Louvre Atlanta, a three-year partnership between the High and the Louvre.
The Margaret Mitchell House & Museum. Participate in the docent-led
tours featuring the
furnished apartment where Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone With The Wind, a movie museum showcasing memorabilia,
exhibit galleries and museum shop.
The Atlanta Botanical Garden borders Piedmont Park and features one of
the world's largest displays of tropical orchids.
Buckhead Attractions
Atlanta History Center includes a Museum, the 1928 Swan House and the 1845
Tullie Smith House. The Center recently opened an addition dedicated to the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.
Metro Atlanta Must-Sees
The Michael C. Carlos Museum features art of the ancient cultures. You could see,
"In Stabiano: Exploring the Ancient Seaside Villas of the Roman Elite," which presents artifacts from
ancient Roman luxury vacation villas.
Stone Mountain Park is the world's largest exposed mass of granite and is
surrounded by 3,200 acres. Attractions include Crossroads, an 1870s town with skilled crafters;
The Great Barn; Tree House Challenge; skylift; scenic railroad; laser show and more. You can even walk
to the top, if you have some extra time.
Home to the world's largest dinosaurs, Fernbank Museum of Natural History is
an exploration of the earth's history and features an IMAX theater. Martinis and IMAX is one of Atlanta's
hottest traditions each Friday night.
More Sports in the ATL
In addition to the big games, the Atlanta Hawks take on the
Chicago Bulls on Sunday,
April 1 at 2 p.m. and the Atlanta Thrashers host Toronto on Thursday, March
29 at 7 p.m. Both games will be played at Philips Arena.
