An accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Zoo Atlanta inspires appreciation of wildlife through a unique mix of outdoor education and family fun. From well-known native wildlife to endangered species on the brink of extinction, the Zoo is home to nearly 1,400 animals from around the world, including Mei Lun and Mei Huan, the only giant panda twins in the U.S. Other highlights include the nation's largest zoological collections of gorillas and orangutans and a national center of excellence for the care and study of vanishing reptiles and amphibians. Up-close-and-personal experiences include giraffe feeding and behind-the-scenes Wild Encounters with African elephants, giant pandas, Aldabra giant tortoises and lemurs.
