SCAD spent more than two years restoring the historic mansion, culminating in the October 3, 2008 grand opening. After many incarnations--from family home, designers' show house, drug rehabilitation center to popular restaurant, Ivy Hall is reborn, yet again, as an architectural treasure and cultural arts and writing center for the Savannah College of Art and Design and the city of Atlanta.
Along with readings, lectures and seminars, the facility hosts a range of cultural events, from guest lectures and literary salons to chamber music and small ensemble performances. Summer programs offer concerts, theater and performance vignettes on the lawn and weekend workshops for students and the community. Conveniently located in the heart of Atlanta, Ivy Hall is accessible from all parts of the city and from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Ample parking is available on site, adjacent to the facility.
