Oglethorpe University, located on 100 acres in Atlanta's Buckhead section, provides a superior education in the liberal arts and sciences. Oglethorpe's academically rigorous programs emphasize intellectual curiosity, individual attention, close collaboration among faculty and students, and active learning in relevant field experiences. Founded in 1835, Oglethorpe enrolls over 1,000 students and offers four undergraduate degrees in 36 majors and a master of arts in teaching early childhood education.

Students gain valuable experience through internships with Atlanta businesses including CNN, the Coca-Cola Co., AT&T, Fox Sports and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Oglethorpe plays in the NCAA Division III Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Oglethorpe's campus is home to Georgia Shakespeare, a professional theatre company.

Oglethorpe's Center for Civic Engagement oversees service learning initiatives, volunteer projects, service-oriented internships and leadership development. The center has established partnerships with Atlanta Public Schools, Hands on Atlanta, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Dunwoody Nature Center and the Atlanta Area Boys & Girls Club.

Cited on the National Register of Historic Places, Oglethorpe is minutes away from Atlanta shopping centers including Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza and Perimeter Mall. Students are a ride away from downtown or the airport, thanks to the Brookhaven/Oglethorpe University MARTA station.
