Atlanta Contemporary Art Center

The Center exhibits consequential contemporary works by local, regional, national, and international artists. General admission: $8 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, free for children younger than 12 and free on Thursdays.

Atlanta Cyclorama

See the world’s largest diorama revolving painting as it depicts the 1864 Civil War Battle of Atlanta. Adult tickets are $10 year-round. Tour guides conduct a 40-minute, two-part educational program on the Battle of Atlanta every hour on the half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The program includes special lighting, sound effects, music and narration (available in English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish).

Atlanta Preservation Center Neighborhood Walking Tours

Take a walking tour of Atlanta’s neighborhoods and historic sites as guides provide an informative look into the history of the city. Tours include historic Downtown, Sweet Auburn/Martin Luther King, Jr. Historic District, Inman Park, Druid Hills and more. Adult tickets are $10 and seniors and students are $5.

Hammonds House Museum African-American Art Exhibits

Explore the galleries and resource center of African-American Art. Hammonds House is one of the three oldest houses on the West End and is the site of the first kindergarten in Atlanta. The collection features more than 250 art works, mainly by African-American artists and dating from the mid-19th century. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children, students and seniors.

Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum

Adult admission is $8, seniors (60+), students and military $6 with ID, for those 16 and younger admission is free. Open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Free parking is available.

Ancient art at the Michael C. Carlos Museum

This museum, located at Emory University, maintains the largest collection of ancient art in the Southeast with objects from ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and the Americas; $8 adult admission year-round, $6 for students, seniors and children ages 6-17. Admission is free for children five and under.

Splash into Piedmont Park Aquatic Center

$4 adults, $2 for children ages 6-16, $1 for children ages 5 and younger and $2 for seniors 55 and over. The ADA accessible pool features lap lanes, beach entry with a current channel for floating, concessions and pool level locker rooms and showers.

Planetarium shows at Fernbank Science Center

While admission and parking at the Fernbank Science Center observatory are free, ticket prices for the planetarium shows are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

Six outdoor screens show current major motion pictures year-round; $8 adult admission and $1 for children 9 years old and younger.

Ride a glass elevator 72 stories to the Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View

Travel to the top of the Westin Peachtree Plaza for a revolving view of Atlanta. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-12. There is no charge for the scenic elevator for diners of The Sun Dial restaurant or for patrons of the bar ($8 minimum at the bar.)

Twilight tours of Historic Oakland Cemetery

These walking tours offer inside information on the more than 70,000 histories and mysteries interred at the historic cemetery. The tours are offered on Saturdays and Sundays from March until October. The cost is $10 for adults (ages 18-64) and $5 for students (with ID), seniors (65 and older) and children.

The Wren’s Nest House Museum

$8 adults, $5 for children and $7 for seniors and students. Storytelling every Saturday at 1 p.m. The Wren’s Nest was the home of Joel Chandler Harris, creator of the Uncle Remus Tales. The structure itself is one of only a few remaining Queen Anne Victorian homes in Atlanta and is a unique example of upper middle class living around the turn of the 20th century.
