For visitors looking for a unique way to explore Atlanta and residents interested in really getting to know the city from a new perspective, what’s more fitting than a running, walking or bike tour through Atlanta’s charming neighborhoods? Whether you choose to travel by foot or put the pedal to the medal (er, plastic) on the streets of Peachtree and beyond, Atlanta is filled with active tours suitable for fitness fanatics, history buffs and even foodies (Atlanta Bicycle Tours offers custom progressive dinner bicycle tours for parties of eight or more). Here are a few of our favorite active tours in Atlanta.
Atlanta Running Tours
The following running tours are booked by appointment only and include a t-shirt, bottle of water, snack bar and digital photos taken throughout the tour that will be e-mailed to you. You and your party will have a personal tour guide/running partner who has completed 10 marathons and 10 half marathons so she can also answer all of your questions about training for some of Atlanta’s popular races! She will also, of course, share a plethora of Atlanta facts and history during your scenic cardio session that will be run at your preferred pace.
Downtown Dash ($30) – This 3-mile tour through the heart of Atlanta travels around Centennial Olympic Park, passing by CNN Center, World of Coca-Cola and Georgia Aquarium. Stops also include the Georgia state capitol and Underground Atlanta.
Midtown Miles ($30) – Also 3 miles, this tour through Midtown Atlanta includes the High Museum of Art, Piedmont Park, Ansley Park, Margaret Mitchell House and other historic spots. Downtown Dash and Midtown Miles are perfect tours to help you prepare for an upcoming 5K. Click here to view upcoming races. This tour starts and ends at the Colony Square Starbucks.
The Atlanta Experience ($50) – Double the distance of Downtown Dash and Midtown Miles, this 6-mile tour will help you prepare for a 10K race while giving you a taste of all things Atlanta. Experience the sights and history of the city as you pass by Centennial Olympic Park, CNN Center, World of Coca-Cola and Georgia Aquarium in Downtown and the Fox Theatre, Margaret Mitchell House, Piedmont Park and High Museum of Art in Midtown. You can choose to begin this tour in either Midtown or Downtown.
Just a Run - Don't feel like a tour, but need to get in a run while you're in town? This option is great for frequent business travelers to Atlanta! Just a run is $20 per 3 miles and $5 for each additional mile.

Bicycle Tours of Atlanta
Friendly, knowledgeable tour guides will join you on your cycling adventure through Atlanta that is complete with a bike, helmet, bottled water, snack and, of course, photos! Choose from the following bike tours:
Heart of the City Tour ($49) - This 10 mile, 3-hour tour includes many of the signature and historic sites of the city, beautiful in-town neighborhoods and many hidden jewels off the beaten path.
Atlanta Street Art Bicycle Tour ($49) - Visit the city’s favorite street art featuring huge murals from the Living Walls Concepts, sculptures from City of Atlanta’s public art collection, art on the Atlanta BeltLine and more. Witness the contemporary and historical pieces of Atlanta artwork that help create one of the most interesting visual experiences in the country. Be sure to bring your camera!
The Beltline and Piedmont Park ($30) - This laid-back and scenic tour is a smooth, 1.5-hour ride along the Atlanta BeltLine. Pedal through historic Old Fourth Ward to the beautiful Piedmont Park while enjoying amazing views of the city and a sampling of Atlanta’s growing art scene and urban renewal developments.

Atlanta Preservation Center's Guided Walking Tours
Downtown, Midtown, Grant Park, Inman Park and Sweet Auburn are among the historic neighborhoods you can choose to explore on these outdoor guided walking tours, available March through November. All of the tours are led by a dedicated and knowledgeable team of volunteers who make history come alive. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
The Atlanta Preservation Center’s The Phoenix Flies: A Celebration of Atlanta’s Historic Sites, celebrates the history of Atlanta and the historic sites and neighborhoods that encompass it. The next Phoenix Flies Celebration will take place March 8-23. Hundreds of events are being planned throughout the city, including guided walking tours, bicycle tours, exhibits, interactive children’s activities and visual and performing arts.
