West Paces Corridor (Buckhead)
The West Paces Corridor is one of five areas comprising northern Atlanta's fashionable Buckhead district. Among the top attractions of the West Paces Corridor are the Atlanta History Center & Museum and its Swan House Garden and Tullie Smith Farm Gardens. Another highlight of the West Paces Corridor in Atlanta is a Buckhead essential: upscale shopping.
The West Paces Corridor includes the region along West Paces Ferry Road, where rich Atlanta residents built summer homes in the early 20th century. Today, visitors may drive past the mansions and estates of the West Paces Corridor in Atlanta and spot a variety of architectural styles, including the Greek Revival of the 1967 Governor's Mansion. A sightseeing tour is especially pleasant because the area is heavily wooded.
The West Paces Corridor has long played an important role in Atlanta history. At one time, the West Paces Ferry Road served as a trail to the Chattahoochee River ferry. The area was also the site of a Union encampment during the Civil War.
