Virginia-Highlands
The Virginia-Highlands is one of Atlanta's most popular retail and entertainment destinations. Clusters of independent restaurants, boutiques and nightspots (including Blind Willie's blues bar and the Hand in Hand Irish pub) give the intown Atlanta neighborhood its unique flavor. Although the Virginia-Highlands in Atlanta is an old neighborhood that grew up around the trolley line, the Virginia-Highland area still makes a desirable place to live, with its tree-lined streets and restored 20th-century bungalows. The Virginia-Highlands is also home to such historic buildings as the Samuel M. Inman School, the 1904 Adair Mansion and Fire Station #19.
Every summer, the Virginia-Highlands hosts the Summerfest neighborhood festival, which features a juried art market. In December, the Virginia-Highland Civic Association sponsors a holiday tour of Va-Hi homes.
Atlanta's Virginia-Highlands is located east of Piedmont Park. The Virginia-Highland district in Atlanta takes its name from the intersection of Virginia and North Highland Avenues.
