Grant Park
Grant Park is home to Atlanta's largest historic district and oldest city park, the 131.5-acre Grant Park. Although primarily a residential Atlanta neighborhood, Grant Park boasts such landmarks as Zoo Atlanta, the Atlanta Cyclorama panoramic painting and Civil War earthworks. Grant Park homes range from Craftsman bungalows to Victorian cottages. Many date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In the 1960s, the construction of I-20 split the Atlanta neighborhood in half, but Grant Park rebounded in the following decades.
Grant Park in Atlanta, GA, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Grant Park Neighborhood Association sponsors the annual Grant Park Tour of Homes (September), and the Atlanta Preservation Center offers Grant Park walking tours.
Grant Park also features and hosts the annual Grant Park Summer Shade Festival which happens every August. The festival features events such as the Artist Market, food vendors, the Adams Realtors' 5K RUN FOR THE PARK, live entertainment and more.
Grant Park is located in Atlanta's southeast quadrant, not far from downtown Atlanta, the Georgia State Capitol and Turner Field.
