College Park/East Point
College Park and East Point are Atlanta suburbs located inside the I-285 Perimeter, near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. With a population of 20,000, College Park, Georgia, is the smaller of the two communities, yet it lays claim to Georgia's fourth largest urban historic district. More than 850 sites in College Park, GA, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. At the center of historic College Park is Main Street, which showcases such businesses as the Brake Pad, a restaurant and bar housed in a former gas station. College Park, GA, is also home to the Georgia International Convention Center as well as Woodward Academy, a private school for grades K-12.
Just north of College Park, 12 miles southwest of Atlanta, lies the city of East Point, Georgia, once the eastern terminus for the Atlanta and West Point Railroad Company. The community of 40,000 people is home to Camp Creek MarketPlace shopping center, which features more than 100 merchants, and the Dick Lane Velodrome, an indoor bicycle track. A U.S. Army base, Fort McPherson, is located nearby.
