Ben Hill is a historic Atlanta neighborhood that boasts a rarity in 21st-century Atlanta: an antebellum home that survived the Civil War. Although the Judge William Wilson House is one of only half a dozen pre-Civil War buildings in Atlanta, its future is not assured. The Atlanta Preservation Center placed the Ben Hill home on its List of Most Endangered Historic Places in 2001. The home at Ben Hill in Atlanta, Georgia, is one of many Atlanta properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it is not open to the public.
Ben Hill traces its history back to the 1820s when the neighborhood arose around several churches. At least one of them, Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church, remains one of Atlanta's oldest churches. The Ben Hill in Atlanta, Georgia community was originally known as Mount Gilead Cross Roads.
Today, Ben Hill is a middle-class residential community located in Southwestern Atlanta. It is home to Greenbriar Mall.
