Excellent shopping and diverse culinary make Alpharetta an appealing destination for a day trip from Atlanta. Shoppers may enjoy the antique shops of historic downtown Alpharetta, Georgia, the boutiques of Windward Parkway and two nearby outlet shopping centers. Alpharetta also features North Point Mall, which is located off GA 400 between exits 8 (Mansell Road) and 9 (Haynes Bridge). Outdoor enthusiasts are sure to appreciate a visit to Alpharetta's Autrey Mill Nature Preserve or the Big Creek Greenway, a wooded 6.1-mile concrete path ideal for hiking, biking and in-line skating. North Point Parkway is a main point of focus in Alpharetta with retail and dining area along with two movie theatre complexes. Alpharetta also features well-known golf with public golf courses such as RiverPines Golf Course and Bear's Best.

With nearly 200 restaurants, Alpharetta also offers culinary adventures galore. One of Alpharetta, Georgia's top annual events is the Taste of Alpharetta food festival (May). Other Alpharetta events include the Alpharetta Marathon (March), the Alpharetta Arts StreetFest (April) and the Christmas in Alpharetta tree-lighting ceremony (December).

With many business opportunities, Alphareeta is also the area that features well-known companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Verizon Wireless, IBM, AT&T and more.

Alpharetta is located in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains, outside of Atlanta's Perimeter (loop I-285).
