Atlanta is the place to be for college football as we kick off the new year with the biggest events of the season. Here are the College Football Playoff National Championship fan events to attend in Atlanta, from tailgating to 5Ks to coach interviews.

Dec. 31, 2017

  • Fan Night
    Georgia Aquarium
    Museum admission

    Fans can enjoy the spectral displays of thousands of exotic and local marine life while mingling with other football fans. Adding to the festivities will be the attendance of each team’s cheerleaders and mascots.

Jan. 1, 2018

  • Championship Series
    College Football Hall of Fame
    10 a.m. -- 5 p.m.
    Free with price of museum admission

    Watch college football games and enjoy a cash bar and concessions at the Championship Series Tailgate Built by The Home Depot. Fans can participate in The Home Depot scavenger hunt and try to find five official College Game Day hard hats and receive a special prize if they do. There will be a live DJ as well as tailgate games and prize giveaways.

  • Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Parade
    Downtown Atlanta
    8 a.m.

    The free event concludes at FanFest in the Georgia World Congress Center. The popular parade traverses downtown Atlanta and features bands, floats, marchers, cheerleaders, classic cars, mascots and other participants.

    Presented by Tyson, the Fanfest is the ultimate pre-game destination. With food, interactive games, entertainment, official limited edition merchandise and giveaways, there is something for fans of all ages.

    The College Football Hall of Fame is always a fun way to celebrate college football and with the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Skill Zone, fans can experience the history and tradition of college football in a unique way.

  • Media Day
    Philips Arena
    9 -- 11:30 a.m.
    Free

    Join the media and watch as both teams and coaches participate in media interviews prior to the national championship game. More than 1,000 journalists will be getting the inside scoop and the public can listen in on interviews with free headsets. 

Jan. 6-8

  • College Football Playoff Fan Central
    Georgia World Congress Center
    10 a.m.-- 6 p.m.
    $8 in advance; $10 at the door

    Playoff Fan Central is a 300,000-square-foot interactive experience that allows fans to be part of the College Football Playoff National Championship. The three-day, family-friendly event (children under 12 are free), includes games, clinics, pep rallies, bands, special guest appearances, autograph signings and exhibits celebrating college football and its history.

  • AT&T Playoff Playlist
    Centennial Olympic Park
    Jan. 6, 7: Gates open at 4 p.m.
    Jan. 8: Gates open at noon

    AT&T brings three days of live music to downtown Atlanta, featuring performances by Jason Derulo, Charlie Puth, the Chainsmokers, Bebe Rexha, Spencer Ludwig and Darius Rucker.

  • Championship Tailgate Plaza
    International Plaza (above the Red Parking Deck between Philips Arena and the former site of the Georgia Dome)
    10 a.m. -- 6 p.m.

    Championship Tailgate Plaza is for fans who want to experience extreme tailgating. With three days of outdoor activities, fans can zip line, participate in stunt jumps and, of course, eat.

  • Extra Yard 5K
    International Plaza
    8 a.m.
    Registration: Various prices (Use code TEACHER)

    The Extra Yard 5K is the official road race of the College Football Playoff and includes live entertainment, activities with race sponsors and a post-race awards ceremony. All proceeds benefit Extra Yard for Teachers, the College Football Playoff Foundation’s primary platform that works to inspire and empower teachers. The race is hosted in partnership with the Atlanta Track Club.

  • Taste of the Championship
    Georgia Aquarium
    7 p.m.
    General admission: $250; VIP $350

    Sample gourmet food and beverages from some of Atlanta’s finest restaurants and breweries with the proceeds supporting the College Football Playoff Education and its Extra Yard for Teachers platform.
