Atlanta is the perfect place to celebrate weddings, graduations, quinceañeras, bar mitzvahs and, yes, the yearly Dragon Con. These are large joyous occasions, but everyday Atlantans rejoice in birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and promotions. Or, sometimes a group of friends just wants to go out and enjoy the evening without the standard going out to eat or booking a spa night. Atlanta has many ways for friends to enjoy an evening out.

  1. Agatha's A Taste of Mystery brings out the “Columbo” in every party as this fun downtown venue presents unique, original and hilarious murder mysteries. Not only do the actors keep the show going, but the audience is given a role. Who knows? Maybe the birthday girl turns out to be the murderer. Agatha’s offers a five-course meal to add to the celebration.

  2. Andretti Indoor Karting & Games is the place to test your motor skills and have a memorable party. Located in Marietta, Andretti’s features high-speed electric super karts as well as arcades, a cosmic rock wall, zip line and a state-of-the-art arcade. There also are two bars and great food.

  3. Food, friendship and exercise: the perfect recipe for a party, and that’s exactly what Atlanta Food Walks provides. The company offers a variety of walking tours that touch on some of Atlanta’s best known -- and least known -- restaurants. Among the tours are a downtown Southern walk and Grant Park, but Atlanta Food Walks also does private party walks that can be customized.

  4. Bellina Alimentari, located in Ponce City Market, taps into the foodie in all of us plus the universal joy of communal cooking. Of course, just getting a table and enjoying the menu, which offers such Italian specialties as sorellina (pasta with creamy mushroom ragu), gamberetto (shrimp with risotto) and polpette al sugo (fontina cheese-filled meatballs) is wonderful, but the real fun comes when you take part in a culinary class or have a private dinner or wine tasting. Classes include pasta making and dinner or a private dinner exploring the wonders of truffles.

  5. It might be a party for someone turning 40, but a 12,000-square-foot facility with more than 60 games, such as air hockey, Pong 180, dark escape 4D, NBA hoops and Pac Man Smash will bring out the kid in everyone. Game-X, overlooking Centennial Olympic Park, is perfect for parties. Add a terrific restaurant and bar and it’s a memorable party for any celebration.

  6. Johnny’s Hideaway has been called Atlanta’s “only nightclub for big kids.” Johnny’s Hideaway features a DJ playing hits from the '50s all the way up to today as well as live bands under the spinning mirror ball. So bring out your inner Fred and Ginger and dance the night away.

  7. How about spending the weekend in nature – and some thrills? North Georgia Canopy Tours offers biplane treetop canopy tours. Located about an hour from Atlanta, the company offers tours of various lengths that include varying numbers of zip lines. Don’t want the fun to stop? Book an authentic teepee and find out how much fun camping can be – as long as the teepees have heating, air conditioning and lighting. In addition there are 15 rustic camping sites for those who like to rough it.

  8. The Painted Pin is an upscale boutique bar, bowling alley and entertainment venue located in Buckhead. Partygoers can book a semi-private event that includes eight bowling lanes, soft seating and indoor gaming courtyard. The restaurant has an appropriately upscale menu that includes hickory smoked pork ribs, cheese plate and fried chicken.

  9. If you’re feeling the need for speed, take the party to the Porsche Experience Center near the airport and feel the thrill of driving a Porsche on a 1.6-mile driver development track. The center offers six different modules on the track -- all aimed at teaching a different skill. Porsche drive coaches work one-to-one to make the experience safe and exciting. After the track, enjoy the restaurant, shop and simulator lab.

  10. Skyline Park is on The Roof at Ponce City Market, and it brings old-time fun to any party. Spend an evening playing skee ball, high striker, miniature golf or riding the skyline slide. Of course there are food choices and drinks. The Skyline Park can be booked for semi-private or private events.

  11. Also located on the roof at Ponce City Market is 9 Station, an elevated beer garden that serves craft beers, classically prepared cocktails and food to share. 9 Station can also be booked for private and semi-private parties.

  12. Southern Arts and Bourbon Bar, located at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead, offers private bourbon tasting and cocktail mixology for private parties. A bourbon expert will introduce and pair up five bourbon selections or a seasoned mixologist will guide guests step-by-step in crafting their own unique cocktail from start to finish.

  13. Stars and Strikes, located in Sandy Springs, is another locations where adults can relax, bowl, play games, eat and drink.
