It's Valentine's Day weekend and love is in the air. We've compiled a list of some of our favorite events for this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Atlanta. For more romantic things to do, visit our Valentine's Day page.

Carol’s Picks
Carol is the ATL Insider’s culture vulture. If there is a new exhibit in town or a new show on the stage, Carol is the first to know about it.

  • The Toxic Avenger, through March 13
Word has it that this play at Horizon Theatre is a nonstop laugh riot, and I heard from a reliable source that Horizon’s version of the Avenger is better than the New York version. So what to expect? There’s an unlikely hero, his girlfriend, a corrupt New Jersey mayor . . . . Sounds like fun, no? Oh, there’s lots of goo, too.

  • Capitol Steps, Saturday
Can’t take another dose of the race for president? Then here’s the cure for election-year malaise: The Capitol Steps. Stop throwing things at the TV, and laugh about presidential politics. Nobody does it better than these geniuses of musical satire. “So, two Corinthians walk into a bar. . .”

  • A Valentine’s Romance with the ASO, all weekend
Jazz guitarist and bandleader John Pizzarelli and special guest (and Pizzarelli’s wife) Jessica Molasky join Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to spread a little musical romance on Valentine’s weekend. Loves me, loves me not.
Joleen's Picks
Joleen is a work-at-home mom to a toddler son. She and her family live in the ‘burbs but enjoy regularly traveling into the city for family fun and adventure.

  • Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey presents Circus XTREME, all weekend
America's favorite circus presents Circus XTREME, coming to Philips Arena this weekend. Let your imaginations go wild! Children of all ages will enjoy the ultimate family entertainment experience.

  • Valentine's Night at the Center for Puppetry Arts, Saturday
If you're looking for a unique date night to celebrate V-day, check out "Valentine's Night Out" at the Center for Puppetry Arts. Adults (18 and up) will enjoy a romantically-themed guided tour of the museum and other fun puppet-themed activities throughout the evening. Beer and wine available at a cash bar.

  • Valentine's Day Weekend at Lanier Islands, all weekend
Celebrate Valentine's Day weekend with the entire family at Lake Lanier. With the Islands' Family Valentine's Day Package, Mom and Dad can enjoy a romantic picturesque dinner, drinks and dancing. Meanwhile, the kids can enjoy their own Valentine’s Day-themed dinner party, including games and a movie with the resort’s Legacy Kids Club counselors. This package also includes luxury accommodations at Legacy Lodge and a breakfast buffet the following morning.
Tommy's Picks

Tommy is a young professional keeping an eye out for the city's liveliest happenings.

Miranda’s Picks
Miranda recently got engaged and enjoys fun and fancy romantic events throughout Atlanta.

  • Valentines in the Garden, Saturday
Atlanta is falling in love this Valentine's Day weekend, and one of the best places to celebrate is at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Amazing flowers, dancing, cocktails, desserts… Need I say more?

  • Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, all weekend
Regarded as the most popular modern dance company in the world, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is inspiring, moving, and stunningly beautiful. Their shows at the Fox Theatre will excite and amaze you and your SO.

  • Five-Course Valentine's Day Chef's Tasting Menu at Staplehouse, all weekend
Casual, delectable, and unexpected, Staplehouse serves seasonal a la carte meals and a five-course chef's tasting menu, all while supporting The Giving Kitchen. This Valentine's Day weekend, celebrate at Staplehouse with a special five-course tasting menu of whimsical, tantalizing delights.
