Carol’s Picks
Carol is the ATL Insider’s culture vulture. If there is a new exhibit in town or a new show on the stage, Carol is the first to know about it.

  • 'And Something Magical Happened,' Saturday through Jan. 7, 2018
If you love sports, in particular -- great moments in sports, then make it a point to see this photographic exhibition by Walter Iooss. Feast your eyes on Hank Aaron and Michael Jordan, too.
  • Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game -- Georgia Tech vs. Tennessee, Monday
Woo-hoo. College football is back. Not only that, the game will be played at the brand-new (and jaw-droppingly stunning) Mercedes-Benz Stadium. (And, sorry Tennessee fans, but, "Go Jackets.")

Joleen's Picks
Joleen is a work-at-home mom to a 4-year-old son. She and her family live in the 'burbs but enjoy regularly traveling into the city for family-friendly fun and adventure.

  • AJC Decatur Book Festival, Sept. 1 - 3
Bibliophiles will be in heaven this weekend as the largest book festival in the country settles in Decatur. The entire family will find books to interest them as they enjoy author signings, readings, panels, workshops, kids area, parades, entertainment and so much more. As a home-school mom, I know where I'll be to stock up for the year.

  • Enjoy a date day, All Weekend
Need a day away from the kids? There are a multitude of great things for couples to do this weekend in Atlanta. Pick a day (or two) and plan a fun date “day” out with one of our suggestions.

Tommy's Picks
Tommy is a young professional keeping an eye out for the city's liveliest happenings.

  • Dragon ConSept. 1 - 4
Have you noticed an unusually high number of stormtroopers and/or Danaeryses in the city? That can only mean one thing: Dragon Con has returned. Witness the huge, colorful cosplay parade on Saturday, and then it's off to panels, music, costume contests, sci-fi and fantasy icons and more.

  • Black Gay Pridethrough Sept. 4
The 21st annual Atlanta Black Gay Pride weekend kicks off with a celebration of black LGBT individuals in ATL. As the largest Black Gay Pride celebration in the world, the city will be host to parties and community empowerment seminars.
