Whether it’s with animals, music or sweets, here are some fun Atlanta Valentine's date ideas to do with the kids over Valentine’s Day weekend.

  1. You may say “give me some sugar” when you want a hug from your little one, but when they say that phrase, chances are they want something sweet. Surprise your little sweethearts with a visit to River Street Sweets at Phipps Plaza where they can choose from chocolates, fudge, cakes, pies, candies and lollipops. Or perhaps they would like a slice of pie.

  2. Sprinkle your kids with affection by indulging in ice cream or frozen yogurt at Kilwins in Atlantic Station, and then top the date off with some laps around the ice skating rink. This is the last weekend the rink is open and, with double-bladed skates available for kids, it makes the perfect parent-child Valentine’s date. Need more reasons to visit Atlantic Station? There are plenty!

  3. Surprise your animal-loving kiddo with a Valentine’s Day Flamingo Sponsorship at Zoo Atlanta, available through Feb. 15. For $75 you will receive two one-day admission tickets to the zoo, two 7-inch plush flamingos, a 5”x7” flamingo photo and a special edition certificate. While you are there, make sure to check out the pink flamingos. The zoo is also among the attractions you can visit with Atlanta CityPass!

  4. Looking for more animal adventures? Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey: LEGENDS will be at Philips Arena Feb. 11-16; and love is always in the air (and water) at Georgia Aquarium, home to the lovable beluga whales, dolphins, whale sharks, African penguins and more. Make sure to see the Dolphin Tales show while you're there.

  5. On Valentine’s Day, take the little Valentine in your family to My Family Valentine at Atlanta Symphony Hall. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will showcase classical favorites based on the greatest love stories of all time, including Cinderella, Romeo and Juliet and Sleeping Beauty.

  6. At The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead, children will receive a special wristband denoting “VIK” (Very Important Kid) status when checking in for an overnight stay and will be rewarded with the hotel’s house-made chocolate bark upon completing a self-guided scavenger hunt.

  7. What kid doesn’t like to go round and round? Step it up a bit this year and forgo the merry-go-round at the mall for a circular ride of heart-pumping fun on SkyView Atlanta. Hovering 20 stories high, you all will fall in love with the incredible view of the city.
