New Must-See Family Attractions in Atlanta

Spring 2017 marks new beginnings and fun things to do at several of Atlanta’s favorite attractions. From theater to thrill rides, here are five new must-see attractions for families in Atlanta. 

  • Ashley Bryan at the High Museum of Art, through Jan. 21, 2018 
    Ashley Bryan is a noted artist and poet. He has been creating stunning, colorful works of art for half a century and has published more than 50 titles including many incredible children’s books about the African and African-American experience. The exhibit, organized by the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in partnership with the Ashley Bryan Center, is presented by the High Museum of Art. Don’t miss out on this colorful “Wonderful World of Ashley Bryan.”

  • Dinosaur Explore at Stone Mountain Park, through Dec. 31
    If you've got a little one who loves dinosaurs, you’re going to really DIG this. Stone Mountain Park is offering an amazing exhibit that features 20 life-size dinosaurs with special effects, allowing them to move and roar. Your family is sure to find its favorite among this collection of 14 varieties. Will it be the intimidating T-Rex or the gentle, 20-foot-tall Brachiosaurus? You’ll have to visit to find out. Afterward, dig for dinosaur bones in the Dino Dig. Then head to the Dinotorium, a four-story indoor playground filled with hands-on, interactive fun. 

  • 4-D interactive ride, "Justice League: Battle for Metropolis," at Six Flags Over Georgia, Opening May 26
    Buckle up! Six Flags Over Georgia has an exciting new 4-D experience in store for thrill seekers. “Justice League: Battle for Metropolis” is an indoor, interactive adventure ride featuring the world’s first virtual vertical loops. Through the ride, use “blasters” to shoot a variety of targets while experiencing 4-D elements including wind, fog and more.

  • Pete the Cat at The Center for Puppetry Arts, through May 28
    The Center for Puppetry Arts is offering this delightful play based on the New York Times best-selling book series, “Pete the Cat.” Marionettes plus rod and shadow puppets showcases the adventure of this groovy skateboarding, surfing and rocking blue cat and his friends. Accompanying hands-on activities and special sensory-friendly performances also are available. Visit the website for more information.

  • Space Mission at LEGOLAND Discovery Atlanta, temporary exhibit
    Attention all space kid-ets! A new out-of-this-world exhibit has launched at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Atlanta. Space Mission is a limited-time attraction where guests can explore alien worlds built entirely out of LEGO bricks, explore the mission control center, watch a LEGO rocket blast off into outer space and more. Channel your inner astronaut and build your own spaceship at one of the many play stations.
