Layover at the Atlanta Airport

If you find yourself with a few hours to spend at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, consider one of these ways to pass the time.

Member Lounges

If you’ve got a few dollars to splurge, why not check out one of the exclusive lounges like Delta Sky Club and American Airlines Admirals Club? Comfy chairs, refreshments, free Wi-Fi and a quieter atmosphere make this a  way to pare down some of the airport’s fluorescent hubbub and anxiety. Delta’s Sky Club is an option even if you’re not a member; the airline offers a reasonably priced single visit pass.

Feeling tired?

Stretch out and get some actual shut-eye in the Minute Suites. Available 24/7, these pods allow you pay for however many minutes of rest you want. In addition to daybed sofas, pillows and blankets, the suites are equipped with high-definition television and have internet access also, in case you figure you could use some private time. You’ll find this traveler’s retreat on Concourse B.

Looking to rejuvenate?

XpresSpa in terminals A, C and D has you covered, with facials, massages, nail services and more.

Taste local Atlanta.

Pretend you’re actually exploring Atlanta with restaurants that have locations in the city. Check this list of popular Atlanta restaurants with locations at the airport.

Walk your dog.

The airport provides indoor relief areas for service animals on every concourse, near Gates T7, A10, B33, C19, E14, F7 and D-Midpoint. There’s a 1,000-square-foot dog park in the Ground Transportation area on Domestic Terminal South, outside of doors W1 and W2. The fenced-in park offers biodegradable bags along with benches. One more pet relief area is located on the arrivals level of the International Terminal, right outside of door A1.

Nothing like a spit shine.

Find Mastershine & Heel at A Gate 20; Atrium NE & SE; and B Gate 17.

Shop the zoo.

Stop in at Panda Veranda for souvenirs, gifts and collectibles from Zoo Atlanta.

Shop higher-end.

Score some nice buys from brands like Michael Kors, Coach, Spanx, Mont Blanc, Salvatore Ferragamo and L’Occitane.

Do the duty-free.

If you’re on an international flight, you can enjoy duty-free shopping.

Opt for an art walk.

Look around. There is art throughout the airport. To cite two examples, you may take “A Walk Through Atlanta History” in the Transportation Mall between Concourses B and C. Also, look for the rotating exhibit, “Courage Under Fire,” in the Domestic Atrium. It features photographs of the Freedom Riders during the civil rights movement.
