From baseball to soccer and more, here are some of the must-see happenings taking place across the city as summer winds to a close.

The All-American Pastime
The Atlanta Braves are celebrating their inaugural season at SunTrust Park. Weekly favorites include Friday Night Fireworks, Kids Run the Bases and Alumni Sundays. Expect plenty of giveaways for every Friday home game – including a Freddie Freeman Bobblehead Aug. 25. In addition, every Saturday home game is a theme night, giving fans the chance to enjoy pregame and in-game activities related to the theme, limited-edition concession and merchandise items, and a ticket package that comes with a themed giveaway or experience. Coming up soon is Hank Aaron Heritage Weekend (Aug. 18 and 19), featuring a Hank Aaron Replica Statue Gate Giveaway and post-game concert by MC Hammer.

Super Soccer Action
Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United continues its inaugural season at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Expect plenty of action, with a loaded roster that includes recent MLS Player of the Week Miguel Almirón, who has achieved a hat trick and a duo of multi-goal games this season. Headed by Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, President Darren Eales and head coach Tata Martino, the expansion team is approaching 35,000 season ticket holders (a record for an expansion team) and soon will share the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium with the Atlanta Falcons. The first home match in the new stadium is set for Sept. 10 against FC Dallas.

We Have the Dream
The WNBA’s Atlanta Dream brings plenty of full-court action to fans this summer at McCamish Pavilion on the Georgia Tech campus. The regular season  closes with a Fan Appreciation game against the Fever Aug. 26. The squad is under the guidance of five-time NBA champion and two-time WNBA champion coach Michael Cooper.

Looking Ahead to Football
With the Atlanta Falcons’ recent trip to the Super Bowl and the opening of Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium – football talk about town is at an all-time high. Thinking about taking in a pro game on your next visit? The Atlanta Falcons kick off the preseason at home Aug. 26 versus the Arizona Cardinals. This should be a stellar year for the team, with cornerback Desmond Trufant returning from injury alongside veteran running back Devonta Freeman and outside linebacker Vic Beasley Jr., as well as hot new players like defensive tackle Dontari Poe.
