Being a Southern beauty starts with glowing skin, and Atlanta is home to some of the best facials. Many spas in Atlanta have their own signature facials all designed to clean, tone and pamper the skin so that your inner beauty shines through. You'll probably notice that there are lots of hotels with spas in Atlanta, so whether you're visiting from out of town or you're a local looking for a place to spend some luxury "face-time," here are eight of our favorite spas for facials.

  1. The Spa at Barnsley Resort is a full-service spa with a coed whirlpool and pool. It offers a variety of facials, massages, manicures and pedicures. We love the Red Carpet Facial, a 90-minute high performance treatment featuring a plant stem cell serum combined with microcurrent and LED infrared technologies. You’ll be smiling because your skin will be visibly firmer, smoother and toned.

  2. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Atlanta is designed to be an oasis of serenity in the heart of Buckhead. Prior to treatment, you can enjoy a 60-foot saline water lap pool and a relaxation area. We suggest the enzyme facial, which is a powerful and highly effective natural facial peel that smooths, softens and evens skin tones. The peel uses botanical extracts and pumpkin enzymes to deeply exfoliate. Then the skin is refreshed by a soothing massage using rose quartz crystals.

  3. The Aviary Organic Beauty Collective, in the Old Fourth Ward, uses the finest sustainable and natural products. Owner Amy Leavell Bransford is a favorite of locals as well as celebrities who come for her Intraceuticals Oxygen Infusion Treatment that uses pure oxygen. The result is a significant improvement in the appearance of skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles.

  4. The Exhale Spa, located at the Loews Hotel in Midtown offers a variety of first-class facials including the Exhale Power, which is a customized facial that begins with an exfoliating mask that prepares the skin for extraction and detoxification, and concludes with either its Cool Beam or Ultrasonic therapies.

  5. Bliss Spas are world famous for their facials, and Atlanta has two Bliss Spas: W Atlanta -- Downtown and W Hotel -- Midtown. Our favorite is the fully loaded facial, which includes the whole “skin-chilada,” a deep cleansing, fruit acid wash, oxygen wrap, extractions, age-fighting plumping collagen serum, skin-type specific rubberizing mask, head, neck, shoulder, arm and foot massage, a hair dew treatment and an 02blast. Glowing is the best word to describe how you will look after this experience.

  6. Nadia’s Studio & Gallery, located in historic Castleberry Hill, close to downtown, features 100-percent organic products. While they have a variety of facials, including the Arctic Berry Facial Peel and the Calm Skin Facial, we’re in need of the Age-Defying Facial, a revitalizing mixture of custom-blended fruits and vegetables that combat premature aging, sun damage, dehydration and loss of vitality followed by a Hungarian face-lift massage.

  7. The Spa at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead may offer the best named facial of all time — The Southern Comfort. We certainly order it every time. The facial starts with a deep cleansing aromatherapy facial, eye treatment and scalp massage. You’ll start with a dry brush body exfoliation and an application of warm mineral crème combined by essential oils.

  8. The Serenity Spa at the Omni Hotel in Downtown Atlanta is certainly well named. You will walk in with a lot of stress and leave refreshed, rejuvenated and with beautiful skin. The Serenity Signature facial features a cocoa mask from South Africa with the benefits of highly concentrated vitamin C and E serum. But, we’d like to mention the Renaissance Facial that is designed to meet the distinctive needs of ethnic skin.
